Suprise went for hot dogs and gas gift card and caught Fish for Dinner

So I went to Publix grocery shopping today because Hebrew National Dogs were BOGO and they had this spend 25.00 get 10.00 of a 50.00 gas gift card, which was a great deal so off I went.

Of course they had someone cooking something.  It was an Publix Apron's Recipe for

Grilled Fish With Lemon Sauce and Crunchy Cranberry Waldorf Salad

(this is the picture that was used on the publix site not mine...if i ever get a smarter smart phone I will take photos and upload to the blog, but for now I will shnow what they are using)

Now the lady making it made some changes she didnt use the recommend fish, instead she used a Mahi Mahi and she didnt have a grill she was using an electric frying pan. Connor always makes me stop and grab a plate of whatever it is and I love that he wants to taste everything.

Any how he hated it and I loved it. Ok he hated the fish, which I loved and he ate all the apples from the salad.  So, off I went to buy the fish.  Which I was informed was really over priced, so I went with the Tilapia, as it was ok to use as per the recipe and also was a fish I am used to cooking with and like the taste of.  I also picked up a Bequiet for a nice bit of bread on the side and I figured wow cream spinich would be nice with this (lol ok was looking for an excuse to make it again) Remeber I blogged about it the other night?

Let me just say I dont normally hear those sounds coming from Jeremy for my cooking.  What a simple simple recipe that really was all about the sauce making the difference.

I say give it a shot and I am sure you wont be disappointed.

decided to grill the other night

Since we have a larger size smoker/grill, i make sure to cook a bunch of stuff at once as to not waste the charcoal.

So I marinaded steak and chicken breast.  For the marinades I used:

For the steak I used a recipe by Emeril Lagasse

Emeril Lagasse

Now remember all I actually used was the marinade, and nothing else.  Also I didnt feel like making "essence" so I just took what should have been in it and threw it in the marinade.  WOW it was really tasty!

For the chicken breast I used a recipe for marinade by Bobby Flay

again only the marinade.

Then I wanted to try Cream Spinich.  Now first you should know I dont like spinich and always hated the smell of it creamed.  Can we SAY OMFG that was AWESOME!!! Jeremy said any time I want to make him a big bowl of that for a meal to feel free.

All caught up!

Ok gang, thats it we should be all caught up for this week so far!  oh wait, we tried a new place for lunch this week. That was where we had that Cattlemen's Gold BBQ sauce.

It's called Stuart's Own Cowboys' BBQ & Steak Co

Jeremy had a brisket sandwich was was good, would have been great if it was not on the garlic bread, it fell apart, there was too much meat and it got too soggy, keiser roll would be the way to go.

I had ranch burger, minus jalipino peppers, WOW was great. We tried the steak fries and the coleslaw.  Steak fries good, coleslaw was tasty.

We will definitely go back for sure.

Breakfast this AM

So Jeremy wanted to do a stuffed French Toast, and use a banana cream cheese stuffing, sorta like what goes in a dessert chimmy chunga.

Then he decided he wanted to layer it rather than stuff it and have me just make the french toast.  He did buy unslices Challah bread. I had him cut it up for me and then left him to work on his "Stuffing".

Simple french toast, eggs and cinnamon, then fry on the griddle.  I made each of the boys 2 and said ok I am done cooking this stuff. Jeremy was like where is yours.  I dont know i get weird on that kind of thing.  When it comes to grilled cheese and also eggs and french toast after I make like 6 of em, 8 when Joseph lived with us, I am just done by the time it comes to making mine.  So instead I took my slices buttered them and drizzled honey on them...yum yum for that.

Jeremy didnt get his recipe right or couldnt get the taste he was looking for I should say.  Connor LOVED it, Alex didnt, Jeremy said tasted better with Maple Syrup on it.  Me I thought it tasted like Banana's Forrester.

Corn Bread and BBQ Chicken

So we decided to bbq some chicken which means smoke the chicken and add some bbq sauce on it at the end. Thats ALL JEREMY!

We did get turned on to a new BBQ sauce this week called Cattlemen's Gold. WOW we really like this. It's sweet with a bit of a bite.

I decided to make corn bread on the side. So I had some Martha White Corn Meal and followed a combination of her regular recipe on the back and her spicey recipe on the side.  However, I don't really like spicey foods so left out all the spicey ingredients.  Also before I put it in the oven I drizzled honey over the top.

Dinner was a hit

I am LAX lol Lets see what I did this week

Back around my birthday I was given this great Fajita kit. Came with a cast iron skillet, a holder for holding tortia shells and preping the fajitas, a tortia warmer, 2 little salsa bowls.

So, I needed to put this bad boy to use!!

I bought round steaks to cut up, taco bell fajita seasoning, shells, peppers and onions.

MMM MMM MMM these turned out good. Well I thought they did Jeremy barely was able to get 1 down, before he decided he was done.

Update on my Cuban

Ok, so Jeremy really wanted a REAL Cuban sandwich.  So, I went to Publix and got sliced roast pork, spanish style.  And the Supervisor told me the secret is to use Honey Butter on the outside of the bread before the smushing!

Ok tasted OMG different.  Well, how was I supposed to know I never had one before.
